NuLiv Science was born in 1997 from a conversation between two brothers.

Michael Wang's brother Austin had done something remarkable. He'd secured one of the first patents on Cordyceps sinensis produced through liquid fermentation technology. He needed help bringing it to market. Michael said yes.

That yes became a 25-year journey into the intersection of Traditional Chinese Medicine and modern nutritional science. And what started as a single mushroom ingredient has grown into one of the most respected botanical ingredient portfolios in the nutraceutical industry.

2000

The Research Heritage

In 2000, we established a research laboratory at NDMC, one of Taiwan's leading institutions for medical, biological, and biochemical research.

Our research laboratory was established at NDMC in 2000.

There, we met Professor Han-Ching Lin, a scientist whose PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of North Carolina had led him to a deep fascination with the 'Qi' phenomenon in TCM.

Qi, in Traditional Chinese Medicine, is considered fundamental to digestion. 'Qi-invigorating' herbs like Astragalus and Notoginseng had been used for centuries to strengthen digestive function.

Professor Lin wanted to understand why. So did we.

What followed was years of methodical in-vitro and in-vivo research.

Studying how selected active compounds from these herbs affected the absorption of key nutrients: folate, arginine, tryptophan, glucosamine. The kind of work that bridges a 2,000-year-old tradition and peer-reviewed journals.
